Your Excellency,

With reference to M, Cambon's call

on the 12th February, when enquiry was made as

to the attitude of His Majesty's Government

towards the export of arms to China, I have the

honour to inform you that no final decision has

yet been reached in the matter. Simultaneously

with His Majesty's Ambassador's note of the

3rd August 1934, to which M. Cambon referred,

enquiries were addressed to the Belgian, Italian,

United States, Czechoslovakian, Japanese,

Swedish, Spanish, Swiss, Polish, Danish and

Norwegian Governments. The replies elicited are

summarised below for the information of the

French Government; the majority, as You

Excellency will observe, indicated regular

compliance with the regulations of the Chinese

Government.
